Room Changes

Housing & Residence Life hope this finds your semester going well and now that we have made it through opening we are entering the period where room changes and room swaps may begin.

A room change is a request to be moved from a current location to a currently unoccupied space while a room swap involves 2 or more students agreeing to switch rooms. Students who wish to swap rooms with another student may contact the Residence Hall Coordinator in the hall the swap is going to occur during the RHC’s office hours. All students involved in the swap must meet with the RHC. Room swaps may begin on September 7.

Students interested in asking for a room change will need to complete the Room Change Request Form.  The form will allow a student interested in making a room change to indicate the conditions under which they would like to be moved. The form will be available beginning August 31 at 9am through September 14 and requests will be reviewed based on the order in which they are received. Notification of a room change will be sent in an email to the student’s EKU email address beginning September 7, so those who have submitted a form should regularly check their email. Please do not move until you are emailed your new assignment.

Students who do not currently have a roommate should expect a new roommate at some point during the room change process. Also, this is a reminder, the other half of the room should remain ready to receive a roommate at all times even after the room change period concludes.This means that 1 bed, 1 desk, 1 dresser, and 1 closet should remain empty and free of belongings.

Students who request a specific roommate, will need to include the name and EKU ID number of the specific student, so have this information available before you begin the form.

 

Reminders: 

  1. The Room Change Request Form will be available from September 7th at 9:00 a.m. and close September 14th at noon.
  2. Students wishing to swap places or room change with a specific roommate must include the name and ID number of that student on the form.
  3. Students will be notified through their EKU email address if a room change or room swap has been approved.
  4. Suppose a student wishes to decline an approved room change after receiving an email notification. In that case, the student must reply to the email within 24 hours, stating their desire to remain in their original room assignment. After 24 hours, it may not be possible to cancel the room change. 

The form submission is a request for a room change or room swap and does not guarantee a change will be made. Submission of the request form authorizes Housing & Residence Life to alter your current assignment based on your indicated preferences. EKU Housing & Residence Life will make every effort to accommodate a request if space allows.
