Room Changes - Spring 2023

Housing & Residence Life hope this finds your semester going well and now that we have made it through opening we are entering the period where room changes and room swaps may begin.

The Room Change Form will go live on Tuesday January 31, at 10am. Deadline for submission is Wednesday , February 8, at noon.

• Students wanting to live with a specific person:

  • Wednesday, February 8 @ Noon - Deadline for students who would like to request to live with specific person.

  • Friday, February 10 @ 2:00 pm - If approved, will be notified and can begin moving into their new room.

  • Monday, February  13 @ Noon - Students must complete their room change/move.  Failure to move will result in forfeiting your new room location.

• Room Changes and Room Swaps:

  • Wednesday, February 15 @ Noon - Deadline for students requesting a general room change to a new building or new room, and room swaps.  Both students involved in the swap must be in agreement and complete the form indicating they would like to swap spaces. If approved, you will receive additional information on when you will need to swap. 

  • Friday, February 17 @ 2:00 pm - If approved, students will be notified and can begin moving into their new room.

  • Monday, February 20 @ Noon - Students must complete their room change/move.  Failure to move will result in forfeiting your new room location.

Notification of a room change will be sent in an email to the student’s EKU email address, so those who have submitted a form should regularly check their email. Please do not move until you are emailed your new assignment.

Given the number of students who have requested campus housing we have a limited number of vacancies which reduces our ability to grant room change requests. 

Students who do not currently have a roommate should expect a new roommate at some point during the room change process. The other half of the room should remain ready to receive a roommate at all times even after the room change period concludes. This means that 1 bed, 1 desk, 1 dresser, and 1 closet should remain empty and free of belongings. Per the contract, the University reserves the right at any time to move the Resident to another room, assign a roommate, or assess an additional charge for single room occupancy. Additionally, students who do not have a roommate at the end of the room change process may be consolidated requiring them to move.

Submission of this request form is only a request for a room change and does not guarantee a change will be made and authorizes Housing & Residence Life to alter your assignment based on your indicated preferences.  EKU Housing will make every effort to accommodate a request if space allows.
